Need help with your marketing and website content?

Need help with your marketing and website content?

I’m a bookworm at heart, and book editing is my focus at JavaDragonBooks. But before I became a book editor, I spent a few years deep in the world of content marketing. SEO, keyword research, landing pages, and blog posts were my bread and butter. I’ve done a lot of different things in the digital marketing realm, but there’s one thing I’ve always excelled at and loved to do: editing website content.

For small, local businesses, it often doesn’t make sense to hire a marketing agency. Even if you could afford it and wanted to hand off that responsibility to a third party,  what about your brand? Your unique voice? Are they going to capture that and preserve it, or sacrifice it for the sake of efficiency and strategy? Especially these days, since the majority of marketing companies use AI for content writing.

That’s why I’m offering limited content writing and editing services for small businesses. SEO-informed, strategic…but most importantly, authentic and personalized. And never AI-generated.

Content Writing vs. Content Editing

Content Writing vs. Content Editing

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all service, but in general, my website content services for businesses fall either into the writing or editing category. If you’re building a new website or redoing an old one and you want someone to handle all the written material, we’ll talk about content writing. If you have an existing website and just want to polish and improve the written content you already have, we’ll talk about content editing.

Content writing is ideal for small businesses that don’t have anyone particularly savvy at writing on their team, or who just want one less time-consuming task to handle themselves.

Content editing is perfect for small businesses whose priority is their branding and voice, so they want to write their own content, but they need some help making it polished, professional, and SEO-friendly.

How it works

How it works

N

We'll have a consultation to discuss your business and your website content needs. From here, we'll create a tailored service plan and I'll provide a quote.

N

I'll gather all the details I need to create your content. That might include team member bios, service lists, business history, external sources for information, competitors, and more.

The writing or editing begins! Depending on your preferences, I can work directly on your website or draft/edit content in Google Docs for you to review and upload to the website. We can revise and refine as needed until you're happy with the end product.

What does it cost, and is it worth it?

What does it cost, and is it worth it?

The price varies significantly depending on several factors. For starters, website content editing will always be cheaper than content writing. But cost will also depend on the complexity of the project. For example, writing content for a local business I’m personally familiar with will take less time than writing for a business I know nothing about and need to research.

Consequently, an in-depth consultation is necessary before I can provide exact pricing. The approximate range is $30 to $100 per page for writing, $10 to $50 per page for editing.

Whether it’s worth it is, of course, up to you. But here’s what I can tell you from my personal and professional experience: Written content is one of the fundamentals of SEO, meaning it can make a huge difference in whether customers find your site on Google. And if they do find your site, that content is also vital to how they will perceive it. Helpful, well-written, authentic content builds trust. Poor-quality or generic content makes people look elsewhere.

Special Note for Pacific Northwest Businesses

Special Note for Pacific Northwest Businesses

Mount Rainier, PNW website content concept

I love calling Western Washington home. If this happens to be the home of your small business, too, I’d love to collaborate! I offer three primary benefits for local businesses that work with me for website content:

In-person consultations, and, if relevant, I’ll visit your business so I can better understand what makes you stand out and capture that in the content.

The option for service-swaps as payment. If you’re a local hair salon or auto shop, for example, then we can discuss a service exchange.

Social media boost and reviews. Depending on the specifics, I can give your business a shout-out on social media, follow your page, leave you a review of we exchange services, etc.
